ANCHORAGE

The city is a great place for affordable accommodations. Its striking distance from Talkeetna’s, Chugach Front range and the Kenai Mountains. Although not your traditional ski base, this city offers great options for food and entertainment after being in the mountains all day.
GIRDWOOD

Beautiful and popular destination for backcountry skiing. Located about 40 miles southeast of Anchorage, Girdwood offers great accommodation options. Alyeska ski resort is a great place to ski when conditions are tough or unsafe in the backcountry.
VALDEZ

The town that needs no intro. Its by the ocean and has all of the history. Where the oil industry coexists with the big mountain ski industry. Helicopters and ski touring. Valdez has it all.
Prince William Sound (BOAT)

Description Ski and sail with Red Raven Guides in Prince William Sound, linking some of Alaska’s best coastal ski lines straight from the deck of a comfortable expedition vessel. Mornings start with coffee on the boat as the sun hits hanging glaciers and couloirs above the fjords, then a quick skiff ride brings you to shore for big vertical on untracked maritime snow. Between ski laps, you cruise past tidewater glaciers, watch for whales and sea otters, and dry gear in a warm cabin while your guides and crew handle navigation, avalanche decisions, and hearty meals. Hatcher Pass

Base your ski touring out of Hatcher Pass, with options to stay cozy at Hatcher Pass Lodge, camp nearby, or access the MCA hut system for a more backcountry-focused experience (with MCA membership and approval required). From any of these bases, classic Hatcher terrain is right at hand—quick laps in mellow bowls, longer tours along ridgelines, and steeper couloirs when conditions line up. Evenings can mean warm food and a cabin vibe at the lodge, a well-dug winter camp under the stars, or sharing stories in a simple hut after a big tour, while your guides help manage route choices, avalanche conditions, and daily objectives so you can focus on skiing good snow.
The ALASKA Range (BASE CAMP)

Imagine a snow camping expedition deep in the Alaska Range where comfort and warmth are front and center, and there is a good chance the entire glacier we fly into is yours alone. Your basecamp is a spacious, well-dug snow camp with dialed sleeping systems, communal cook tents, and hot drinks always close at hand, so you stay rested and ready. Just outside the tent door, world-class ski objectives spill out in every direction—from long powder ramps to steep, technical lines that define Alaska skiing. While your guides handle camp life and turn out excellent meals, you get to focus fully on climbing and skiing the deep and steep terrain that brought you here in the first place.
