WHY A SKI GUIDE?

When hiring a ski guide, it is important to choose someone who is experienced, knowledgeable, and has a good understanding of the local terrain and conditions. They should also have excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively guide and instruct clients in potentially dangerous situations.

Make sure your ski guide is trained and certified by reputable organizations such as the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA) or the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA). They typically work with clients who have varying levels of experience and skill, ranging from beginners to advanced skiers.

A ski guide is a professional who specializes in leading and instructing individuals or groups in mountainous and alpine environments. They have extensive knowledge and experience in navigating challenging terrain, managing rope systems, assessing avalanche risks, and providing instruction on climbing techniques and safety protocols.

Born and raised in Talkeetna and in a log home, with a bush pilot / hunting guide for a father and a strong independent mother, Elias was given a great opportunity and perspective of the world and plans not to waste it.

Elias still calls Alaska his home, living in Anchorage. He shares a beautiful home with his partner Brooke and their dog Fozzy.

Elias started guiding at the age of 19 and has never looked back. Now with years of experience and many certifications he guides all over the globe. Ski trips in the deep powder of Japan, month long expeditions in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, incredible views from high altitude expeditions In the Alaska Range and skiing incredible corn on the Antarctic peninsula.

Elias is a certified AMGA ski guide and also carries certifications in avalanche rescue, forecasting, rescue rope work, glacier rescue, ski instructing, rope access work, wilderness first responder and many other certifications.

Would highly recommend Red Raven Guides! I took an Avy 1 class with Elias and Gary. Both were very knowledgeable and great with communication. The classes were all outside which gave us more time to learn about the snow.

Excellent AAA accredited Avi 1 course. Knowledgeable and skilled instructors who lent their real world experience to the class. Course covered rescues, including single and multi-person burial drills, pit digging and snowpack analysis, and touring in multiple locations to effectively apply learning. Very much appreciated the on-location learning opportunity - and I feel more ready and confident to head into the backcountry!
