Our Intro to Ice Climbing course is designed for climbers looking to safely experience real Alaskan water ice under the guidance of AMGA-certified and/or AMGA-trained guides with extensive, hands-on experience climbing and guiding on true Alaskan ice. You’ll learn fundamental ice climbing movement, tool and crampon technique, efficient footwork, belay systems, and hazard awareness in a supportive, professional environment. Whether it’s your first swing of the tools or your first steps onto vertical ice, this course emphasizes strong foundations, sound risk management, and real-world skills drawn directly from Alaska’s demanding winter climbing conditions.
